At New Chapter Counseling, we are committed to transparency and supporting your rights under the No Surprises Act, which was passed in December 2020. The Good Faith Estimate provision of this act ensures that healthcare providers offer clients without insurance, or those not using insurance, an estimate of the anticipated costs for services. Here’s what you need to know about the Good Faith Estimate and how it applies to your care at New Chapter Counseling.
A Good Faith Estimate is designed to provide clarity about the total expected costs of non-emergency healthcare services, such as therapy sessions, before your appointment. This estimate:
Your Good Faith Estimate will project the costs for services over the next 12 months, giving you a clear idea of what therapy might cost based on our agreed-upon session frequency and current rates.
At New Chapter Counseling, we uphold your rights under the No Surprises Act. Here’s what you are entitled to:
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate, even if you receive superbills from us.
You are entitled to a written Good Faith Estimate at least one business day before your scheduled service. If your service is scheduled at least 10 business days in advance, we will provide the estimate within 3 business days. For services scheduled at least 3 business days in advance, the estimate will be provided within 1 business day.
You may request a Good Faith Estimate before scheduling any services. For services scheduled less than 3 business days in advance, a Good Faith Estimate is not required but can be provided upon request.
If requested, you will receive your Good Faith Estimate within 3 business days.
You have the right to dispute any bill that exceeds your Good Faith Estimate through a federal dispute resolution process.

The Good Faith Estimate is just an estimate. Actual costs may vary throughout the year depending on the specifics of your treatment and needs. For new clients, the estimate may be revised after we’ve discussed your symptoms, diagnoses, and treatment plan.
The Good Faith Estimate does not bind or obligate you to receive services from New Chapter Counseling, nor does it require any long-term commitment.
There are no provisions in the law that allow clients to waive their right to receive a Good Faith Estimate.
